SHL junior ice-time share (JITS%)

Three SHL grundserie seasons: who actually gives U20 skaters meaningful TOI — and who does not.

Grounded in THA lake export (2023/24–2025/26 grundserie). Goalies excluded.

Key findings

  • JITS% = U20 skater TOI ÷ all skater TOI on game date (players ≤20.0 years).
  • Skellefteå averages 14.7% over three seasons (peak 22.6% in 2024/25).
  • Färjestad averages 2.5%; 0.7% in 2025/26 alone.
  • Mean missing-TOI share across clubs: 0.4% — the ladder is not a data artefact.

What this means for a club or media team

For a sporting director, JITS% is a falsifiable answer to “do we actually play our juniors?” — comparable across the league without relying on narrative. For media, it is a development story that survives fact-check: same rules, different roster construction choices.
